This post is in answer to a question regarding using natural methods for treatment of blood clotting. There are additional links to natural cures for blood clotting below.
I have MTHFR and would like to prevent getting DVT, but I don’t want to use Coumadin, what would be recommended?
Don’t take more than 1 aspirin a day as you may get internal bleeding and kidney problems. You are probably better off without aspirin, just to be on the safe side.
There are also many options that offer natural methods for the treatment of blood clotting. Foods or herbs that contain Salicylates are useful. Salicylic acid (from Latin salix, willow tree, from the bark of which the substance used to be obtained) is a monohydroxybenzoic acid, a type of phenolic acid and a beta hydroxy acid. This colorless crystalline organic acid is widely used in organic synthesis and functions as a plant hormone. It is derived from the metabolism of salicin. In addition to being an important active metabolite of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), which acts in part as a pro drug to salicylic acid, it is probably best known for its use in anti-acne treatments. The salts and esters of salicylic acid are known as salicylates.:
omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E supplements, strawberries, curry powder, cayenne pepper, ginger, paprika, thyme, cinnamon, dill, oregano, turmeric, licorice, peppermint, raisins, prunes, cherries, cranberries, blueberries, grapes, tangerines, oranges, chewing gum, honey, peppermints, vinegar, wine, cider, anchovies, salmon, albacore tuna, mackerel, lake trout, herring, tree ear, jicama, garlic, onions, olive oil are just a few.
Before making any changes to diet, supplements or any medications you should consult with your physician.
