I have tried exercise and yoga and I am not going to take any medication until i am sure the herbs will not work for me.
Kava Kava, Passionflower, St. John’s Wort are good for heavy depressions, Lavender, Chamomile are good for mild ones. Damiana is nice as well, but can sometimes have mild side effects. Do make sure you are consulting a doctor as well, who would be able to tell you of potential drug interactions. If you have ragweed allergies, don’t go anywhere near chamomile, you’ll be in trouble. There are others that I can’t remember- you might want to check out your local yellow pages for alternative medicines like herbalist, homeopathic practices, reiki, and accupuncture.
Remember- read all the warnings, and consult a medical doctor or licensed alternative medicine therapist. Don’t be afraid to check yourself into therapy, too- it really does help!
