Which universities offer a bachelors program in alternative medicine so I can go to naturopathic school?

Alternative Medicine

All that is old becomes new again and Alternative Medicine is no different. Which universities offer degrees that I can go to naturopathic school and become a naturopathic doctor? My friend is getting hers from Coe College, it’s like pre-med but in alternative medicine. I’m looking for a real university (not online).

In North America, the term naturopathic doctor IS protected. And there are only a handful of accredited colleges/universities.

Here’s a link to the accrediting body, the American Association of Naturopathic Medical Colleges…

The upper right corner of AANMC webpage hosts links to each of the schools.

Alternative Medicine

Alternative Medicine is redefining the limits of personal well-being and health and is starting to change the definition of exactly what it means to be healthy in today’s fast-paced, stress-filled environment and provides a whole new whole world of alternatives for today’s consumer to choose from during this process of identifying their healthcare desires.

You might be pleasantly surprised to learn that Alternative Medicine may perhaps be included within your healthcare policy, that offers a broader scope of coverage as compared to managed care alone, and may even well reduce your overall cost of healthcare on the whole and even improve the future standard of living that you and your loved ones will enjoy in the many years to come.

The realization of the fact that definition of health should be, and may also be, far better than simply, totally free of injury or disease, represents a gradual shift in the clear way of thinking for the individual plus the doctor. It is primarily the realization which is allowing Alternative Medicine not to only enter mainstream medicine, but also to work with Conventional Medicine in a fresh and profound way as one of many successful avenues of treatment available to today’s customer of health.

15 to 20 years back, there were very few recognized, choices to conventional medicine, at least not in the western world. This isn’t to say that alternatives did not exist, quite the contrary, they were simply not considered a serious option in improving ones health. This is no more the case.
Unhappiness using the managed care system of this past 10 years, in conjunction with one important event plus a minor shift in thinking created the perfect situations for Alternative Medicine to grow.

First, the cost of healthcare increased. Rising costs for diagnostic and therapy for injury and disease fueled a predictable transfer of focus, generally from treatment to prevention, and this made the perfect niche that is going to soon be filled by the proactive stance that Alternative Medicine prevention provides. Simply put, when costs rise people begin asking questions and also seeking alternatives.

Next, with the Technology Age in full swing, access to good quality information out of a variety of sources translated into patients being better informed of healthcare issues and thus more involved in their treatment plans, if for nothing else reason than as a method to lower their overall healthcare costs.

Alternative Medicine and Conventional Medicine deal with healthcare issues in distinctive ways.Conventional Medicine hinges on “the diagnosis of a patient’s condition. This implies that conventional medicine gets into the healthcare process soon after the patient has been injured as well as following an ailment or disease has progressed to the level where an legitimate diagnosis can easily be made. Once complete, the diagnosis dictates both the treatment, accomplished via drug therapy and/or surgery, and the cost. Conventional Medicine leaves the healthcare process when the condition may be identified, cured, or removed which is normally a temporary fix.

Compare this to Alternative Medicine, which is centered on “preventing a difficulty, meaning that Alternative Medicine by its very nature makes an attempt, and favors, to go into the healthcare process before the patient is hurt or becomes sick. Avoidance is the primary distinctive line of defense. When this frontline is penetrated by injuries or illness, Alternative Medicine makes every attempt to “assist the body in healing itself, via natural means, whenever and wherever possible.

Alternative Medicine is as a result non-invasive, even passive and much more long-term, meaning that it might be a part of a consumer’s healthcare program and doesn’t so quickly exit the medical process, if at all. This will likely result in reduced costs for well-being over the lifespan of each individual. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and at no other time period has this assertion been more true, especially if the treatment requires a high priced antibiotic, surgery and/or a lengthy, or even brief, hospital stay.

Nutrition and changes in lifestyle alone can certainly slow up the incidence of costly injury and disease, decrease the requirement of costly maintenance medications and boost the odds of a much better standard of living.

The healthcare end user in the present day is expected to become both well informed and absolutely involved in the decisions around their personal health decision. Not limited to local and even national healthcare options, the patient of this next century will enjoy global access to both information and treatment options.

Healthcare policies are already locating themselves with this world marketplace and they are re-discovering Alternative Medicine as a way of reducing their own liability and charges as well as growing their consumer pool. Consumers must ensure their healthcare policies reflect these changing attitudes and include a substantially broader spectrum of healthcare options.

What’s the quality of your health worth? Today’s “non-traditional healthcare programs are the building block of alternative health and the anchor for the future quality of life which you and your loved ones will cherish for the years into the future. Be sure your policy answers this question for the greatest satisfaction for you and your family.
