  • A healthy diet is important. Avoid foods that are oily as well as spicy. Leafy green vegetables along with fruits which are high in water content can help to  avoid acne.
  • Learn to avoid stress whenever possible.

Household or home remedies can be very effective in controlling acne. Most of these remedies are external applications, but some of them are also meant to be taken orally.

  • Create a paste from the husk of mustard seeds mixed in cow’s milk. Apply the paste on areas impacted by acne nightly and then wash it off with clear water in the morning. You should see results within a week.
  • Applying buttermilk on affected areas is helpful.
  • Mix nutmeg, red sandalwood along with water. Apply the mixture to your face.
  • Take the pulp in neem fruit and mix it in water. Apply the mixture to your face. This  will offer quicker albeit temporary relief from acne.
  • Mix the thorns of the semolina in milk to make a paste. Apply for three consecutive nights to reduce acne eruptions.
  • Orange peels mulled into a paste and apply on the face also works.
  • Indian plum or jambola squeezed into clear water  to make a paste. Apply the paste to all affected parts.
