Depression – Simple and Natural Ways to Beat it

June 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Natural Healing | 3 Comments »

It is estimated that a quarter of all people in most industrialized countries will suffer from depression at some time in their lives.

The good news is depression can be cured and here we will look at some alternative therapies and also some simple diet changes that can help.

We will also look at two natural supplements one of which is being hailed as a wonder cure and it’s totally natural.

There are a variety of natural treatments, so let’s look at them.

1. Massage

Is a fantastic stress and anxiety buster, which is a major cause of depression.

Massage is deeply relaxing and can be enhanced by an aromatherapist who uses a blend of oils to help alleviate both physical and mental anxieties and stress.

2. Meditation

When the body experiences total relaxation through meditation, mental clarity starts improves and many people can see things more clearly. Yoga and Tai Chi are great for this.

3. Healing with color

It is well known that color affects our mood and can enhance both elation and depression and changing colors around you will help immensely.

It may sound odd at first but color is the first thing we register above all else.

Chromo therapy works by studying a pattern of vibrations produced by your body which can be deciphered by a trained color therapist.

If you feel depressed, your body produces an unbalanced pattern of vibrations.

The therapist aims to adjust these patterns, restoring balance.

Chromotherapy is a proven treatment for mild depression that works.

4. Chiropractic and osteopathy

Ease headaches, neck ache and back pain by manipulating the bones of the body. Pain is one of the causes leading to depression symptoms can be alleviated.

These therapies also boost energy levels, helping the depressed person have more energy and able to cope with life’s ups and downs better.

5. Reflexology

Can also reduce tension by working on specific points on the foot, which correspond to emotional and physical ailments.

Reflexology can leave you feeling better, more energetic and generally more positive.

6. Herbs and supplements

There are many supplements and foods recommended to combat depression but in a recent study was concluded all you need is a healthy and well rounded diet, but there are three supplements you could try and one of them is being hailed as natures wonder drug:

A. St Johns Wort

Some people swear by it others are skeptical, but the amount of people who take and feel it helps, means its worth trying. It’s natural and will certainly do you no harm.

B. L Tyrosine

Supports and assists neurotransmitters in the brain. When the body is stressed or tired the availability of L-Tyrosine is depleted.

L-Tyrosine supplementation can help reduce stress, improves mental alertness, and enhances mood.

C Could this be natures wonder cure?

There is a huge amount of excitement about organic nicotine (removed from cigarettes) It’s a known fact that smokers get depressed less than smokers and that in clinical tests it has been proven that 70% of people suffering depression saw vast improvement when treated with nicotine.

Nicotine is known to switch on receptors on the surface of cells in parts of the brain, this causes the neurons to release the Neuro-transmitter dopamine, a chemical that affects our mood.

There is a huge amount of research going on to deliver nicotine in pure organic form to treat depression and the first is on the market nicotine in water.

Originally aimed at smokers when they couldn’t or didn’t wish to smoke, many people with depression have been taking it for its affect on their mood.

All the above 3 supplements are available without prescription.

Depression affects a huge number of people and not all people are cured in the same way, but the above gives you a variety of Natural Cures you can try if you feel depressed and cure your mood naturally.

Natural Cures For The Problem Of Vaginal Irritation

June 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Natural Cures | Comments Off

It would be normal to assume that with the great strides made in the world of medicine these days that such small things as vaginal irritation due to a yeast infection would be all but eradicated.

Unfortunately this is just not the case. Medical strides notwithstanding, many women who suffer from a yeast infection also tend to suffer from vaginal irritation as well.

This vaginal irritation is of course due to the yeast infection, but since not all medications work to truly clear out a yeast infection for at least a couple of weeks at the very least, you will have to suffer along with it until you are fully cured.

And what happens if you get a recurrent yeast infection and suffer from vaginal irritation again? The same thing of course. You take your medication and wait for your infection to clear up, all the while suffering in agonized silence from your vaginal irritation.

There are however, other things which you can do to quell vaginal irritation, and these can for the most part be done alongside any medical treatments you might be doing or taking.

The first item on the board involves a lifestyle change, whereby you change your unhealthy fast-food high-stress lifestyle, for a healthier option, at least in the food department if not in the life department.

Cutting out such things as refined foods, unwanted starchy foods, high amounts of sugar and caffeine from your diet along with excesses in alcohol and cigarettes can go a long way to clearing your body of unwanted toxins.

In the same time if you also include unsweetened yogurt, garlic, vinegar and cranberries into your diet you will be help your body to rid itself of the yeast infection and thereby any vaginal irritation that you have.

Since this can also take some time to accomplish its goal, you might also want to try something else in the meantime as well. Home remedies as vaginal douches are a good alternative as are vaginal suppositories, and herbal treatments.

Some of the most common of these Home Remedies involves the use of unsweetened yogurt, garlic, apple cider vinegar, cranberries, cinnamon, oregano, and tea tree oil, and not all at the same time of course!

One of the best options you have to give you relief from your vaginal irritation is yogurt and you have a few options on how to apply it to your vagina.

The first is to coat a tampon in yogurt and insert it into the vagina, and the second is to take a needleless syringe, fill it with yogurt and placing it at the mouth of the vagina, squirt the yogurt inside.

Both remedies also call for you to wear a pad to avoid dripping yogurt wherever you go. Another quick fix for you to get almost immediate relief from vaginal irritation calls for a garlic clove wrapped in gauze and tied off with a length of unwaxed dental floss, to be inserted into the vagina.

Healing From the Heart

June 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Homeopathic Medicine | 4 Comments »

Homeopathy is medicine from the heart. It is powerful, yet gentle. It goes deep, but is silent. It is commanding, but polite. All this in a medicine? Yes, that is because homeopathy is a method of cure that has a reputation for curing the most sinister illnesses, but without adding new illness in the form of side effects.

It’s the side effects that are so ugly. Even the story behind the side effects is all missing in the world of homeopathy. Instead it is genteel, refined, discrete and mannerly. It has morals. It never asks us to suffer later for the sake of a fix today. It doesn’t bankrupt our health in a way that we might question its intentions.

Homeopathy’s goal is to heal and it does just that. Can aspirin heal? How about steroids or statin drugs? In modern medicine, the intention is different. Homeopathy is content to cure one person at a time, then send him off to live his life drug and even remedy free.

It’s fascinating how homeopathic remedies have been regulated by the FDA since the 1940’s at the time of the inception of this governmental branch. Yet, even under the eye of scrutiny, never has a homeopathic remedy been taken off the market for maltreating its user. Ever. Now contrast that with the medicines of commerce and those thwarted upon us by a powerful cartel. Beware! The arrogant medicine you are taking today could tomorrow be the prime suspect in a crime of health insolvency. Newer and better, they boast. Oops, they reply. We know better now, they publicize. This makes for a tarnished reputation. After a while, the mask is removed and the face of inconsistency and contradiction is revealed.

Beware, benevolent old Auntie Homeopathy. Don’t meet up with ruffian, Mr. Drugs, lurking in the dark alley. Perhaps your countenance of goodwill will persuade him to do you no harm….No, some bad behavior is not able to be cured.

Home Remedies Vs. Doctor-prescribed Medications in the Treatment of Strep Throat

June 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Home Remedies | Comments Off

Strep throat is a common condition among all categories of age. Strep throat refers to pharyngeal infection with Group A hemolytic streptococcus bacteria and the disease is primarily manifested by throat inflammation, pain, discomfort and difficult swallowing. The disease can also be accompanied by symptoms such as moderate to high fever, nausea, headache, body weakness, decreased muscular tonus, fatigue and poor appetite. In some cases, strep throat can also be associated with tonsillitis (inflammation and infection of the tonsils), sinusitis (infection of the nasal and temporal sinuses) and otitis (ear infection).

The bacteria responsible for causing strep throat are highly contagious and can be easily contracted through saliva and nasal secretions. The causative infectious organisms can be acquired through sneezing, coughing and physical contact with an infected individual. Streptococcus bacteria are widespread during cold or flu seasons, and they are commonly contracted by persons with immune system weakened by past or existing viral infections.

Although strep throat is rarely severe, the recommended treatment consists in specific antibiotics (penicillin, amoxicillin, erythromycin, cephalosporines). Prescribed in the appropriate dose, the right antibiotics can speed up the recovery from disease and also prevent the occurrence of a series of complications. Under special circumstances (impaired immune system response), strep throat can lead to severe complications such as acute rheumatic fever (nowadays extremely rare), coronary disease and kidney disease.

While sometimes even stronger antibiotics (cephalosporines) may fail to completely eradicate throat infection with streptococcus bacteria, such medications play a crucial role in preventing the development of complications. Although antibiotics can produce various side-effects (temporary digestive problems, decreased immune system response to recurrent infections) and are not guaranteed to completely eradicate infections with streptococcus bacteria, they are by far superior to alternative therapies and home remedies which can at best provide temporary symptomatic relief.

It is important to note that most cases of strep throat require proper medical attention. Considering the fact that throat infection with streptococcus bacteria can degenerate into severe complications, the recommended thing to do when experiencing throat inflammation and pain is see a doctor as soon as possible. The doctor will perform a generalized clinical exam and laboratory analysis of throat mucus samples (when required) and upon the results to these tests will decide whether the use of antibiotics is necessary or not. Remember that the doctor is the only qualified person that can tell you when to use antibiotics, what antibiotics to use and in what dosage. Any form of self-medication with antibiotics or substitution of the doctor-recommended treatment with alternative treatments and therapies should be avoided.

Home Remedies for strep throat should be perceived as adjutants for doctor-prescribed medications, not replacements. Most home remedies and alternative therapies are very efficient in alleviating the symptoms of strep throat but have low curative effects and can’t completely eradicate throat infection with streptococcus bacteria. The following remedies should only be used along with the doctor-recommended treatment to speed up the recovery from disease.

The most efficient home remedies for strep throat comprise: gargling with salt water (preferably warm) 2-3 times a day in order to alleviate throat inflammation and pain; using saline nasal sprays to maintain the mucous membranes moist; using mist humidifiers to increase air humidity (humidity helps decongest an obstructed throat or nose); covering the neck and forehead with compresses soaked in warm water to alleviate pain and fever; adding garlic or garlic extracts in the regular chamomile tea or in various foods to help the body fight against bacteria and recover from disease; using sage under the form of pills or tinctures to alleviate throat pain and inflammation. Persons with fever should be regularly given soups, teas and non-irritant natural juices to prevent dehydration. Corroborated with the doctor-prescribed medications, the remedies presented above will provide symptomatic relief and accelerate the recovery from disease.

About Astro-Gemology , Manley Hall writes in the “Secret Teachings of all Ages ” that ” The rays of the celestial bodies, striking the crystallizing influences of the lower world, become the various elements. Astrology & Yoga

Union via Action ( Karma Yoga )

While acknowledging the fact the the One Universal Substance which compose the differentiated parts of the Universe is all this , one should indulge in selfless service and love for Him. Man has two duties – Duty unto Caesar means we have to do our wordly duties & Duty unto Self or God means we have to do selfless service to our brethren so that we fulfill the divine humanity in ourselves.

There is a poetic verse which says that trees exist for altruism, that rivers exist for altruism, that cows exist for altruism and hence this body is for Altruism or selfless service. The basis of all service is Love. When we love, we serve. Service is divine and service is one of the means to exhaust one’s own Karma . Karma is defined as action and all actions have reactions. The Grand Law of Causation, the Law of Cause and Effect, the Law of Retribution is called philosophically as the Law of Karma. So we as composite creatures have done both good and evil and good & evil karmas haunt us. But in order to attain to Self-Actualisation, we should exhaust our karma. As far as karma is concerned there will be backlog and it will be difficult to exhaust karma all of a sudden. But absolute surrender to the Divine is the only remedy and while we tread the Path Celestial, all karmas get burnt up.

In Silence, we have to climb from our own earths to our own heavens, rendering to the Caesar of the outer world the things which are lawfully his, and at the same time fulfilling the Law of Wisdom which will set us up and distinguish us from the ranks of other men. it is true that many adversities and opposition we may have to confront. But these are merely parts of the process and tests of fidelity.

Some people on this Path Eternal complain that they and their friends also are visited by misfortune. But we have to understand that they are wages and Initiation is a process of intensive culture and accelerated evolution. It is our Karma exhausting itself.

We have to understand that the Divine Will is leading us, through every circumstance, towards the Final Realisation. This faith will give us equanimity.

Anemia – Herbal Treatment, Ayurvedic Remedies and Home Remedies

June 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Herbal Remedies | Comments Off

What is Anemia?

Anemia is a condition in which the blood is deficient in the body. This deficiency of blood is caused due to the deficiency of iron, which is an essential component of the protein complex, hemoglobin, present in the blood.

In anemic persons, the count of hemoglobin in the blood goes down. Hemoglobin is composed of heme, which is an iron complex, and a protein named globin. If iron is lacking in the diet, then heme will not be formed and so also hemoglobin. The main function of hemoglobin is to carry oxygen to different parts of the body. Hence in absence of hemoglobin, the blood will not be able to provide oxygen to all parts of the body, which will lead in a characteristic weakness.

Why is Anemia caused?

The root cause of anemia is generally deficiency of iron in the diet. However, there are many other ways in which loss of blood can take place from the body. The following are some of them:-

  • People with hemorrhoids (i.e. piles) often lose great amounts of blood if there are open sores. If the loss is beyond acceptable limit, then the person would suffer from anemia.
  • Internal hemorrhages can occur in the body leading to loss of blood, and thus causing anemia.
  • Hemolysis is a condition in which a breakdown of the red blood corpuscles takes place. People suffering from hemolysis will be anemic. Such anemia is called as aplastic anemia.
  • Chronic diseases like cancers cause anemia, especially when the person undergoes treatments by radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
  • Deficiency of vitamins in the body – especially folate and vitamin C – is also responsible in causing anemia. This anemia is called as vitamin deficiency anemia.
  • There is a hereditary type of anemia called as the pernicious anemia. People with this condition are not able to absorb vitamin B12 in their bloodstream effectively. Hence vitamin loss occurs.
  • What are the Symptoms of Anemia?

There are many ways in which anemia can be observable from the outside. The following are some of the most common symptoms of anemia:-

  • People with anemia will have a pale appearance of skin due to the loss of blood. There will be discoloration of the nails and the lips.
  • Anemic people are not able to work for long hours. Fatigue is very common.
  • There will be restless and breathlessness occasionally.
  • At the same time, the heartbeat will be quite rapid. Minor activities can raise the heartbeat excessively.
  • Insomnia is commonly observed.
  • Anemic people will constantly feel giddy and nauseated.
  • In some cases there could be digestive problems like indigestion, constipation and flatulence.
  • How can Anemia be avoided?

There are many ways to prevent anemia. The following are some of the main preventive methods:-

  • A healthy diet, rich in iron, must be consumed. Whole grain cereals, legumes and pulses are good sources of iron. Nuts and dry dates also contain iron. Among the meats, organs such as kidney and liver contain iron in them.
  • Anemia that is caused due to deficiency of vitamins can be avoided by a proper intake of vitamins in the diet. The food must be properly balanced and contain the proper amount of nutrients. Consult a diet chart for better guidance.
  • In order to prevent anemia conditions that are linked with pregnancy, women can take multivitamin pills and other nutritional supplements at the advice of the doctor.
  • Anemia caused by vitamin deficiency can be aggravated by smoking. Smoking interferes in the proper absorption of several vitamins in the body. Hence these vitamins – especially folate and vitamin C which are water soluble – are flushed out of the body without getting assimilated.
  • Since pernicious anemia is hereditary, in order to avoid it you must consult with the doctor if you have a patient of pernicious anemia in your family.
  • How can Anemia be controlled with Simple Home Remedies?

There are various dietary guidelines that can be followed to control anemia. Some of them are given below:-

  • Apples are very good for anemia as they have high iron content. They should be eaten regularly; preferably after every meal.
  • Beetroot is also a very good source of iron. Apart from iron it contains various other minerals that are protective in function to the body.
  • Figs must be eaten regularly, at the rate of three to four per day.
  • Organ meats like kidney and liver must be included in the diet.
  • Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, etc. must be eaten in excess. They should be eaten at regular intervals and not all at once.
  • Other methods to control anemia are as follows:-

  • Cold water bath is known to have beneficial effects in anemia. A person with anemia must have at least two cold water baths a day.
  • Flushing out the bodily toxins is necessary. This can be achieved by massages from professionals.
  • For about ten minutes every day, the anemic person must breathe deeply.
  • Anemic people must not lead a lazy lifestyle even though anemia tends to make people lethargic. They must indulge in light exercises to keep the circulation healthy.
  • Yoga has positive effects in anemia. The preferable asanas are paschimottasana and shavasana. These bring the body into a relaxed state of equilibrium and facilitate circulation of blood.

I have a u.a. coming up and I want to know what kinda of Home Remedies I can take before the end of next week to have clean urine?

I had to have a piss test once for part of a job interview. What I did was take Ural a few times a day and I also took lots of legal drugs like peudoephadrine and codine. Because of all these legal drugs in my system they had to transfer my urine to the other side of the country for testing and it took a week instead of the usual day. It came back negative.

I’ve also heard that drinking a liter of vinegar helps, but I have never tried this one.
